The CITIES 4.0 project brings together 5 partners, representing 4 "innovation ecosystems" from 4 different cities: Eindhoven (Netherlands), Leuven (Belgium), Turku (Finland), and Bologna.
The purpose of the project is to develop a multi-year Joint Action Plan aimed at achieving carbon neutrality in the four cities and accomplishing the following specific objectives:
- -Increase synergies among members of the 4 innovation ecosystems by introducing common tools and activities for matchmaking, partnering, and networking;
- -Enhance the diversity and inclusivity of the innovation ecosystems by including missing, inactive, and/or underrepresented stakeholders (start-ups led by women and/or minorities, start-ups led by members of vulnerable communities such as people with disabilities and migrants, civil organizations, citizens, financial institutions, etc.) through targeted common awareness-raising activities;
- Improve the efficiency of the innovation ecosystems by identifying best practices, knowledge transfer opportunities, and possibilities for joint interventions;
- Integrate the Action Plan with the objectives of the European Commission's Mission 100 Neutral Cities, for cities that are part of the Mission, such as Bologna;
- Inspire other innovation ecosystems through the publication of a Collection of good practices and dissemination of the Action Plan.
