TIMES - Technology and Innovation for Maps of Emergency Social resilience
Since February 2024, the TIMES project - Technology and Innovation for Maps of Emergency Social resilience has begun, with the Foundation partnering with the Municipality of Cesena and ANCI Emilia Romagna.
Through this project the Foundation and the partners will work on new methodologies and tools that facilitate and organize civic responses and volunteer actions in emergencies, improving coordination between volunteering and the Civil Protection system by focusing on civil preparedness for extreme events.
More specifically, the project aims to achieve the following specific objectives:
- Define emergency response strategies that bridge the perceived and concrete gap between the population, volunteers, rescuers, and authorities, reducing the gap between formal and informal practices during a crisis event;
- Identify structures and social dynamics to build a community capable of minimizing the psychosocial effects of a crisis;
- Develop digital tools as an inclusive and effective interface to engage spontaneous volunteer movements during emergencies, reducing the gap between institutions and citizens.
TIMES will have a duration of 12 months (February 2024 - April 2025), at the end of which the following results will have been achieved:
- Establish a knowledge base on the dynamics of social resilience at the city level during a crisis event;
- Update the Civil Protection Plan of Cesena with a section dedicated to scenarios and a reasoned map of community resources;
- Define strategies and digital tools for emergency response that bridge the perceived and concrete gap between the population, volunteers, rescuers, and authorities;
- Model an approach transferable to other municipalities at the regional level.
