Di nuovo in centro. A programme for a Bologna city centre pedestrian friendly

"Di nuovo in centro" is a comprehensive plan for the qualification of city centre and the promotion of pedestrian areas promoted by the Municipality of Bologna since 2011.
The programme identifies three areas of action:

  • mobility/accessibility (for example: extension of pedestrian areas and definition of areas with very restricted access; increase of pedestrian and bike accessibility)
  • regeneration of public space
  • valorisation of selected district

An initial stage of discussion, carried out in early 2012, called on institutions, associations and citizens to discuss the decisions that are outlined in the programme. The City Council called upon Urban Center Bologna to coordinate and articulate these activities and seek to involve the widest possible spectrum of the city’s stakeholders.

An indepth analysis updated 2014 is available in Di nuovo in centro. A programme for a Bologna city centre pedestrian friendly, the first number of the Urban Center Bologna editorial series I Quaderni (available both in italian and english version).
