Urban sprawl is taking place in ways that impact on natural ecosystems and people's lives. This entails a continuous evolution of both the definition of City, and its basic elements, and the indicators that establish its liveability and ability to respond adequately to the challenges of modernity.
At present, it is clear that for a city to be considered inclusive, resilient and beautiful, it must guarantee its inhabitants a series of physical, artificial and environmental characteristics that meet the definition of sustainability in its three different meanings: economic, environmental and social.
A city must therefore equip itself with and know how to protect both its physical and its natural and social heritage.
In this challenge, a fundamental and strategic role is played by the actors of creative and cultural enterprises, capable of innovative intuitions on a micro and macro scale, and of activating co-production processes that involve stakeholders and citizens in paths of imagination and transformation of urban space.
Starting from the results of two local meetings, the event will bring together some of the most innovative and avant-garde European cities to understand the new development trajectories they are shaping and experts with different points of view on the issues.
